Giving frees us
from the familiar territory of our own needs
by opening our mind
to the unexplained worlds
occupied
by the needs of others.
~Anne Frank
remembering we are all here to help one another can ease the pressure of having to perform for ourselves. step outside yourself.

Nikki & Jr Go For A Walk
It's winter in the midwest. Our last storm brought 3" of sleet that fell in little frozen pellets. It piled up like snow, then temperatures rose to above 32 degrees. Everything melted, then froze to basically cover the ground with a nice 2" thick blanket of ice. Then as a topping, God dropped more pellets just to make earth look extra artistic.
So my mother being insightful as ever, gave me these great ice grippers I strap onto my shoes that make me like a human tank, going over icy hill & slickery dale. And we were the only ones out there, imagine.
Now day 3 of the ice, we have a problem. A blister!!! Darn it anyhow, had to cut our walk short tonight. Got 'er packed with aloe, healing is underway!

rain rain and more rain
We here in the midwest are soggy and wondering when this rain will stop. Personally I only have a little water in my basement, but in places people's yards are full of stuff as they clean out their basements and try to dry precious belongings.
I love the rain. I love the gray skies and I love the damp air. It's smooth and calming to skin, however when temperatures rise above 80, it's a bit uncomfortable.
Last night while I was walking my dogs I could feel moisture cover my face. It felt like I grew a sweat mustache. A bug landed on my face and in wiping it off, it was like I was lathered in sunscreen or something. Ah, a midwest summer.
